​At Off The Hook Kiteboarding, safety is our priority. Our logo, the Māori symbol for safe water travel, reflects our dedication to safety—the cornerstone of our school. With over 40 years of combined teaching experience, our three head instructors, Jesse, Carter, and Al, ensure a high level of safety and expertise, guiding you through various situations while maximizing your enjoyment on the water.

​Our aim is to shape students into proficient and knowledgeable kiteboarders. We provide tailored one-on-one instruction, focusing on private lessons rather than larger groups, recognizing that everyone learns at their own pace. This personalized approach fosters strong student-instructor relationships and a sense of accomplishment in mastering this challenging sport.  We treat our students as family, valuing the pride they take in learning from us.

Incorporating Bb Talkin intercom systems into our lessons ensures real-time feedback, enhancing your skills while emphasizing the most important aspect—having fun! Private lesson packages

Newbie Lesson $220
​2 hours of private Lessons 

​We’ve all got to start somewhere, right? This lesson is your so-called “welcoming” into the sport of kiteboarding. During this land based kiteboarding lesson we focus predominantly on wind conditions, kite setup and safety, and basic kite control. Since 90% of kiteboarding is about kite control, we like to use this lesson to ensure that our students can fly the kites with confidence in a controlled manner on their own.  This lesson is a great way to get a feel for the sport and see if it is right for you! 

​If you are already kiting or have taken lessons before, you may use this time for the skills you are working on.  Our instructors can help with water starts, riding upwind, transitions, jumps, foiling and much more!

Go Big Package $420
​4 hours of Private lessons at $105/hour

​If you want to go beyond the land and start to learn the basics of kite control on the water this is the course for you!  Your 4 hour course will be split across 2 days. Each day will consist of a 2 hour session. These sessions do not need to be consecutive days in a row, and can be split across a week or multiple weeks. This lesson package will start with a Newbie lesson on your first day where you'll learn the basics of kite control on the land.  The second day's lesson will start with a short land based refresher to make the transition to the water safe and smooth. Once your instructor sees you can demonstrate control he will  take you to the water to begin practicing control of the kite in the water. You will be able to learn basics such as entering and exiting the water on your own, board retrieval, and water starts! To ensure a safe productive lesson we utilize Bb Talkin 2 way radio helmets!   You'll be receiving real time instruction, and be able to ask questions while on the water!

Pro Package $760
8 hours of private lesson at $95/Hour

This package is ideal for the individual who wants to fully dive into the sport, and go beyond basics. 8 Hours of private instruction at a savings! Your 8 hour course will be split across 4 days.  Each day will consist of a 2 hour session.  These sessions do not need to be consecutive days in a row, and can be split across a week or multiple weeks.  The first two sessions will follow the general outline of our Go Big package. The third and fourth sessions will be tailored to rider to review skills such as consistency in water starts and power, riding in multiple directions, riding back to your starting location (riding up wind), and beyond.  As an added bonus individuals who purchase this package can add additional hours at the current Pro Package rate for future lesson purchases!  After completing your initial 8 hours you will be able to purchase as little as 2 hours or more at this discounted price.  This will allow you to continue your progression to more advanced skills such as transitions, jumping, and beyond!
