KITE ROAD TRIP TO JALAMA BEACH
Yesterday I woke up with a travel bug inside me. With no wind in the forecast here in Huntington I decided to head North up the coast. With kite equipment loaded up I began my search for wind. I was prepared to go as far as San Francisco if I needed to. Luckily I found some very strong wind just at the beginning of the central coast at a spot that I have wanted to ride for a while. Jalama Beach is a part of a small campground right on the coast line. It provides amazing views with strong wind and great waves. I was beyond excited when I pulled up seeing two kiters already out on 6M kites. Fired up and ready to go I hit the water with my 7m Neo and 5'9 Pro Wam. It was pretty gusty conditions, but I couldn't help but have a blast on the water. Nearing the end of my session I could feel the wind increasing significantly. The gusts and lulls were very intense, with spikes to 44 mph and then dropping to 14 mph. Coming off the water I could barley walk my kite up the beach. Fully depowered and bar all the way out I kept getting picked up of the shore. I decided to just take a seat on the sand and wait until a fellow kiter could give me a land. It has been a while since I've played around with wind that strong, but it was totally worth the drive. Today's vlog is a fun recap of my drive and session in Jalama. Hope you enjoy and happy kiting!
