Start your weekend off right!

Kick your weekend off with some kiteboarding! Current weather is cloudy skies with cooler temps, wind blowing 2 MPH side offshore from East/Southeast.  All our forecast are calling for decent breezes fairly early today with winds kicking in close to 1:00 PM. The forecast table also is calling for this wind to last most of the day so even the after work crew can catch a little something late afternoon. If we follow the trend from the past two days we may see these numbers a little earlier than projected as well. My call is foil folks and twin tips having a decent day in harmony though out most the afternoon.

I didn't get any comment responses from yesterday's post, but I'll give you my answer to why I kiteboard. I started back in 2010 when I first came to California.  I'll have been kiting now for 10 years at the beginning of next month, which is crazy to think about.  Why I kiteboard has changed though over the past decade.  When I first started it was because I simply wanted to figure it out.  I was addicted to flying the kite on land, water, high wind, or low wind. All I wanted to do was ride out amongst the other kiters, and feel in control.  As I started to get a hang of the sport it became something different.  I wanted to kiteboard and land all of the tricks I was watching on YouTube.  I was determined to be doing crazy handle pass tricks and big air jumps.  I started riding boots and thought that was the only way to ride.  I kited to feel the adrenaline of landing new tricks, and feel "cool" talking about unhooking.  Well reality is, boots hurt when you crash, and I wasn't going to become the next Aaron Hadlow. I started teaching right around the same time, and my mentality started to switch a little.  I wanted to figure out all aspects of kiting so I could then teach them.  I kited so that I could learn strapless riding so I could teach strapless riding.  I kited so that I could learn foil riding so I could teach foil riding.  I became very open to all aspects of the sport, and analyzed how I did them.  I began to kite so that I could share the awesome feeling of kiteboarding with others.  I learned these skills so that I could pass them on, and watch people progress and get stoked out like I did when I learned.  This part of kiteboarding became so important to me that I made a big leap and stated this business.  I enjoy nothing more than seeing someone try this new sport, and help them figure it out along the way.  This has lead to me meeting sooo many amazing people over the years, and I can't believe I get to call it a job. This is why I kite now, to share this amazing sport with as many people as I can. Who knows what another decade will bring or why I'll be kiting at the end of the next one, but I do know it'll keep me coming back.

Today's question of the day!
What is your favorite kiteboarding discipline? Wave riding, big air, foiling, snow kiting?

Let me know in the comments below! Happy kiting everyone!

I’m with you. I took lessons from you last year and want to figure out the sport. I want to be able to jump, and actually land the jump, always stay up wind ( now some days are better then others) and have fun. Someday learn to foil. As for now I’m just happy to fly the kite and get wet!

I'm cool with just mowing the grass all day. Working on my turns so I don't have to spend more time in the water. I like learning all different conditions to make me feel more comfortable at any site I go to. It's all about being flexible when checking the wind!🤙🏻🌬🌴🌊
