Wet and Windy!

2/22/2020

Sitting here enjoying my coffee and looking outside at a gray cloudy sky. Looks like some AM showers will continue until about 12:30-1:00 PM. This will push a little bump early on with a lull before the clear. After the clear I'm with iKitesurf on the steady breeze that should fill in after. What I'm not sure on is the time frame. Usually when I see an up and down, like shown in the table below, iKitesurf can sometimes miss the mark with the return of the wind. My call is 2:30 clear skies and healthy breezes. I'll comment on this post later this evening when I return from the beach to give the actual wind report for the day. All in all should be a good windy day for Long Beach and most of Southern California beaches! Happy Kiting!

Beach Update:

Now at 12:00 from Belmont wind is blowing steady from the South/Southeast at 11MPH. Looks like the quick up and down won’t be happening from the Southwest as predicted in the model. I’m still sticking to a 2:30 blow, but not much happening before that.

End of Day Recap:

Well I sure picked a great first day for my wind blog.....haha.  Belmont pulled the olddd Belmont special, and called an audible with the wind today.  Wasn't too far off in calling for a later start, but it decided to kick in a little later than I anticipated.  Wind started kicking in closer to after 3:00 with foilers hitting the water.  Then around 3:45 it became twin tip weather.  All in all not a total dud out there, and it was fun avoiding the rain with everyone under the tent!
I really enjoyed getting feedback about starting this blog, and appreciate any recommendations on what you'd like to see in future posts.  I want this to become a fun way for me to share my experience and knowledge with kiters new and old.  All I ask is to take my forecast with a grain of salt ;) but I'll try and make them entertaining non the less.  Happy kiting everyone!
